I think I started drawing the day I learned how to hold a crayon, then pencils, pens, brushes, etc. It’s been a love of mine throughout my life, often side-tracked with school, work, raising a family, etc. Over the years I took many individual art classes and workshops but not such that would be classified as a “formal” art education; I’d say that I am self-taught with the help of many wonderful artists and art books over time. I have worked with various mediums and have sold paintings, note cards and reproductions of my art. I am a life-long learner and look forward to many more discoveries in the wonderful world of art. The coloring book pages are sketched with graphite pencil and ink pens. These are available to all want to download and print them at no cost. I hope that this helps to motivate others to share my site for the benefit of everyone, but especially for those who may be in care homes or facilities and have limited opportunities for leisure.
My Inspiration
During the COVID-19 Pandemic, I started creating coloring book pages and giving them to a local nursing home for the residents to use while they were confined by the virus. After the Pandemic, I am still doing it. At the start, neighbors donated crayons and colored pencils so that each resident would have their own art "kit". I provided the artwork and the Administration copied and distributed it to those interested residents. The idea caught on and as others wanted access, this website came to be the resource. The drawings are free of charge, just download and use as you see best for your purpose, just don't sell the pictures. These downloads can be used in many ways -group coloring , contest activities, children and grandchildren's fun, trace, paint, color, whatever! and the like. With this online tool, I can reach many nursing homes (and others) around the country and perhaps beyond. That is the origin and concept of ldpaintcolorplus.com. There is no purchase cost .
There is joy in having a creative hobby that can not only provide one with satisfaction but can be shared with others for their enjoyment or use. There is excitement in knowing that there is always so much more to learn, to do, to share. I find that the work I do for the benefit of others, for a fee or free, is the most rewarding.
